Harveys is a high profile community business and has longstanding relationships with many organisations in the town of Lewes and surrounding county of Sussex. The nature of our trade and its connections with the social activities of our pub customers means we receive many requests to sponsor all sorts of events and charitable organisations.
We are, nevertheless, a small family business with a limited budget with which to support these worthy causes. Therefore, our policy is to spread this budget over a wide variety of appropriate donations. This could be anything from funding a football strip for a pub team to an advertisement in a programme for a charity fundraiser.
In order to achieve consistency and fairness, the many written requests for sponsorship are considered at a monthly donations committee meeting when the senior executives of the firm consider fixed criteria and the relative merits of each request to enable a decision to be made. For the same reasons of fairness repeat annual contributions to the same cause are unlikely.
Request should be made in writing to Mr Hamish Elder or Mr Miles Jenner at the address below:
The Bridge Wharf BreweryMonies raised from the generosity of Harveys seem almost insignificant when compared to the sterling efforts of our collective pubs. It is a little known fact that the nation's pubs raise over £100 million for charities and good causes every year. One outstanding case in the Harveys' estate is The Grenadier in Hailsham that has, for several decades, run The Milk and Ale Club raising money to fund guide dogs for the blind. To date, they have funded 106 guide dogs (whose photos adorn the pub), at a current cost of £5,000 per dog.
