Harveys has longstanding relationships with many organisations in Lewes and the county of Sussex. The social nature of our business and its connection with the community activities of pub customers results in many requests to sponsor all sorts of events and charitable organisations.
As a small family business we have a limited budget therefore our policy is to spread these funds over a wide variety of appropriate donations.
Funding by Harveys seem almost insignificant when compared to the sterling efforts of our collective pubs. It is a little known fact that the nation's pubs raise over £100 Million for charities and good causes every year. One outstanding case in the Harveys' estate is The Grenadier in Hailsham that has, for several decades, run 'The Milk and Ale Club' raising money to fund guide dogs for the blind. To date, they have funded 106 guide dogs (whose photos adorn the pub). These dogs currently cost £5,000 each. Yes, that over Half a Million pounds raised at today's rate so far!
