All 48 Harvey Houses are run under tenancy (lease), or franchise - i.e. although the pub premises is owned by Harveys, it is the tenant who is responsible for how the business is operated. It is the tenant who sets prices, employs staff, decides what food to offer, etc. Harveys supplies all the drink and shows a keen interest in the beer and wine on offer. Although the business ultimately belongs to the tenant, a traditional spirit of partnership between brewery and tenant must prevail in this type of enterprise.
