The impressive Victorian Gothic tower is a Lewes landmark and has been adapted over the past 150 years to house a modern brewing plant whilst still producing beer made in the traditional way.
Harveys has been independently acknowledged as among the most environmentally friendly businesses in the Country. We use locally grown hops & barley and nothing from our production process goes to landfill.
Harveys has been brewing in Lewes for two centuries. Georgian wine merchant John Harvey brewed his first pint in Bear Yard opposite the current site.
For over half a century Harveys ales have won countless accolades and major awards from the industry plus many prizes for our beermats, labels and rosettes from local beer festivals, all of which we cherish.
Production at Harveys has doubled over the past 25 years with the installation of our second brewing line in 1985 which has enabled us to produce an additional premium bitter and monthly seasonal brews.
We like to encourage our customers and local groups to tour the brewery. However for reasons of Health & Safety our tours as restricted to evenings from April to November and there is a waiting list
