A down to earth community pub in the middle of the High Street a few yards from Polegate station. A century ago it known as The Polegate Inn and was much frequented during the First World War by wounded ANZAC soldiers while convalescing at a nearby hospital. It was these Australians who declared the pub "fair dinkum".
