Lewes Stopover Brew

Press Release: Mumford and Sons – Gentleman of the Road Tour – Lewes 19th and 20th July update

The Gentleman Of The Road Tour promoters are pleased to announce that the Lewes Bonfire Societies, supported by Harveys Brewery, will be running one of the two bars within the main stage arena for the Gentlemen Of The Road Lewes Stop Over from Friday 19th to Saturday 20th July.

All seven of the Lewes Bonfire Societies will collaboratively run the bar with exclusive supply through Harveys Brewery. The bar will be the primary supplier of Cask Ales in the main event arena. The Societies are looking forward to working with Harveys and the event organisers and are pleased to have been given this opportunity to raise some much needed funds for Lewes Bonfire Night. It is expected that over a hundred volunteers from all the societies will help to staff the bar over the weekend. Harveys is the oldest independent brewery in Sussex and has produced many award winning ales. Its Sussex Best Bitter, previously voted Champion Best Bitter of Britain for two consecutive years, will be sold by the Societies over the bar.

Paul Slot, speaking on behalf of the Societies commented “All the Lewes Bonfire Societies are very grateful to Harveys for giving us the opportunity to run the Harveys bar at the Stop Over weekend. Harveys is a real Lewes institution supporting lots of fundraising ventures in the town and this is a great chance for the Societies to raise some cash from an event in Lewes, all of which will go straight back into Lewes Bonfire Night.”

The partnership further emphasises the promoters’ wish to secure local and community participation in the weekend with many other Sussex businesses already confirmed for pitches within the Priory Market and main arena. IN addition to this Lewes District Council have been responsible for arranging a community inclusive schedule of fringe events within the town.

In addition to this Harveys are excited to announce that we have been sanctioned to brew the official Lewes Stopover beer (label right). Unfortunately as our bottles are glass they will not be available at the concert, however both our brewery and online shop will have 3 bottle packs available once the labels are printed, these will be a limited production for the festival.
