Cat’s Back Wins CAMRA Best Street Corner Local Award

We are delighted to announce The Cat’s Back as the joint winner of the Joe Goodwin Award for Best Street Corner Local in CAMRA’s 2013 Pub Design Awards.

“The Pub Design Awards celebrate British pubs with truly memorable designs – whether it is a building that has been converted to a pub, a conservation project on a historical structure or a brand new build with cutting edge design aesthetics – CAMRA congratulate the pub owners, architects, and designers who have contributed to these pubs being named the best in the UK.” Julian Hough, CAMRA National Director.

The Cat’s Back, in Putney, London, was deemed equally deserving of the Joe Goodwin award, being named joint winner for the “sensitive updating” of this “back-street jewel”.

The pub is located just a five minute walk from the Thames riverside amongst some stylish developments in the up and coming Wandsworth area. The front bar is bright and airy, with a lovely cosy atmosphere and still in keeping to the pub’s local, communal and traditional roots.

It is a rare privilege to win a National competition and we are immensely proud. Congratulations and thank you to the staff at The Cat’s Back and Harveys Tied Estate Manager (and designer) Geoffrey Denne.
