The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh visit Harvey's

The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh visited Harveys Brewery in Lewes, Sussex between noon and 2.00 pm on Thursday 31st October.

Her Majesty initiated a brew of her own “Elizabethan Ale” (a 7.5% barley wine Harveys have been brewing since her coronation). Their visit included a tour of the Brewhouse, plus racking and bottling lines.

The Queen then signed the brewing journal for the day and met with members of staff. The Royals enjoyed lunch with Harveys’ Chairman Hamish Elder and Honoured guests from worthy causes across the County.

Hamish Elder (Executive Chairman) said

“It was a huge honour to host Her Majesty and His Royal Highness at Harvey's brewery. The Duke of Edinburgh had a remarkable understanding of the brewing process and Her Majesty was intrigued by the industry and its history, asking many questions over lunch. She was both gracious and charming.”
