The Hampden Arms is a simple old country pub on the top of the hill at South Heighton, on the edge of the downs. Patronised not only by local villagers, walkers and their dogs but many guests from nearby towns (and not so near) who enjoy our unique atmosphere. We are called a ‘Proper Pub’ by those in the know!
We offer wholesome food at lunchtimes, 12pm until 3pm every day. Delicious homemade Sunday Roasts (booking in advance essential). Meals, Parties and Wakes at other times, can be organised by prior arrangement. A good variety of light-bites and snacks are available during opening hours, from Midday till 11pm, 7 days a week.
There are dart boards and a pool table, as well as the traditional Sussex Toads game. The first Wednesday of every month is Quiz Night. Friday nights are music nights with local bands playing. We are the HQ for South Heighton Bonfire Society.
The rear garden is a sun trap, with plenty of seating, full of birdsong and overlooking the adjoining fields.
Harvey’s Sussex Best is well kept, always available throughout the year and is very popular with our regulars. A good range of Lagers, Ciders, Guinness, Wines and Spirits are all stocked.
Everyone is always made very welcome in the Hampden, so if you haven’t tried it yet please pop in, we look forward to meeting you - Kim and Tessa.
Please note: This pub is not supplied direct from the brewery, therefore, we cannot guarantee the beer will permanently be on the bar. We recommend you call ahead of your visit.
