Henfield Pub Blessing at the Plough, Henfield

Plough Henfield BlessingHenfield’s Plough pub received a blessing on Thursday night from St. Peter’s curate, the Rev. Peter O’Connell.

He joined Harveys Brewery area manager Simon Yates, landlady Karen Gold and manager Mia Gold together with about 50 regulars for a service of blessing.

“Be sure to welcome strangers into your home,” Peter quoted from Hebrews 13:2. “By doing this some people have welcomed angels as guests, without even knowing it.”

The blessing, more common in fishing and mining towns, recognised The Plough Henfield BlessingPlough as a shelter, a home, a place of work and a place of hospitality.

“It is a great privilege to carry out this blessing on a place that is so popular with villagers” said Peter.

Simon Yates of Harveys said: “You have to admire Karen’s efforts to involve the community.”

“She took over the pub with her daughter Mia and son Oliver in May 2013, their passion to offer a superb service with locally sourced products is the cornerstone of their success.”
